The Varsity Jump was a 17th airborne Division mission during WWII where thousands of young paratroopers were dropped over the Rhine River to make the final push into Germany to end the war. Susan's Dad was one of those paratroopers. An eagle's talon is the logo of the 17th Airborne Division.

Talon, a moderate Golden Retriever, stands 23 1/4" at the shoulder and weighs 79 lbs. His coat, medium gold with light furnishings, is a good double coat with very little wave. He has a gorgeous head that is broad and clean with no loose or excess flew. He has full dentition and proper bite, no dropped incisors. His pigment is dark.

His temperament is wonderful. He gets along with everyone, including the other boys in the house. Quick to learn and willing to please, he could live in a house with first time dog owners quite nicely.

He was shown by his breeder/owner and earned 8 pts. quickly from the puppy and bred-by classes. He won the Lenape Golden Retriever Club Bred-by class under breeder judge, Nancy Talbott and placed 3rd/35 at the 1999 National under breeder judge Michael Faulkner owner handled in the 9-12 class. After taking the summer off, he picked up his first major under breeder judge, Donald Sturz at his first show out with Diana Mason and finished the next day with a second major the day after his second birthday. Talon will be specialed sparingly by his owner as he continues to mature. He will also be working toward his JH and WC.
